Don Scott: National Fellowship Selection
Don Scott Fellow SEI

Don Scott, Principal and Director of Engineering at PCS Structural Solutions, has been named a Fellow of the Structural Engineering Institute (F.SEI).  Per the organization, the honor recognizes “a select group of distinguished SEI members as leaders and mentors in the structural engineering profession".  Don was recognized May 4th at the SEI Structures Congress in Pittsburgh.
With PCS Structural Solutions since 1982, Don has led many of the firm's educational, commercial, and healthcare projects, such as Lake Washington High School and MultiCare Milgard Pavilion.  His proficiency in advanced structural analysis, including unsurpassed expertise in areas such as wind design, is a strong resource for the firm.  Says Brian Phair, Chief Executive Officer, “Don has been the technical anchor of PCS Structural Solutions for many years, with that pure “lead by example” personality.  We're proud that our national peers continue to recognize him as an expert and mentor in structural engineering.  He's truly deserving.”
Don has been a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 7 Wind Load Subcommittee since 1996, shaping wind load provisions for the United States, and currently serves as Subcommittee Chairman.  He is a member of the ASCE 7 General Provisions Subcommittee, ASCE 7 Steering Committee, ASCE 7 Main Committee, and ASCE Codes and Standards Activities Division Executive Committee.  Don is also Past-President of the Board of Directors for the Applied Technology Council (ATC) and has served on their board since 2009.  He has authored many technical publications, and presented numerous seminars and National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) webinars on wind design throughout the country.
Don studied engineering at the University of Idaho where he received his B.S. and M.S. degrees.  He is highly active in his local community, church, and Boy Scout troop, and most of all enjoys time with his wife, kids, and grandkids.
