This award-winning, 63,000 SF new elementary school embraces biophilic, evocative and tactile elements throughout its design. Diverse environments throughout the school provide space for individual, small, and large-group learning. Closely integrated with its forested site, Blakely features exposed timber throughout the school, including a spine of live-edge structural tree columns that showcase the beauty of wood in its organic form.
This nationally acclaimed design received the A4LE James D. MacConnell Award in 2021. The awards jury was impressed by the school's “strong vision that seamlessly integrated the landscape with shared collaborative experiences that amplify student achievement and empower innovation…. Very simply, this is an exquisitely beautiful project.”
