This new elementary school in Kent School District steps gently down its sloping site and orients its views toward Mount Rainier and the Kent Valley. The 91,660 SF, $38.8 million school serves up to 700 PK-5 students, and is heated with a geothermal exchange system using vertical bores drilled 300 feet deep into the ground. The two-story building is split into five sections, utilizing seismic joints at three locations to meet building performance standards in a seismic event.
