The Operations Facility located on East 25th Street in Tacoma’s Dome District is part of the Sound Transit's Hilltop light rail system expansion and will serve the maintenance needs of the Link vehicles. The 19,200 square-foot addition is a highly specialized structure designed to support additional capacity. It includes vehicle rails elevated over a service pit which allows technicians to access the vehicles from underneath. A raised mezzanine provides access to the top of the cars. In the existing structure, two new turntables were installed to facilitate the repositioning of the cars for access in and out of the facility.
